The Toyota A-BAT Concept is a prototype of SUV-pickup that will give the Japanese manufacturer Toyota at the upcoming 2008 NAIAS, the Detroit Auto Salon.

The Toyota A-BAT falls under the idea that the Japanese brand has a new segment that could be quite popular in United States. This is from the compact pickups, a segment that would build the traditional pickups improve the versatility of these and adding shades of compact vehicle.

With some inspiration in the Tacoma, the Toyota A-BAT reduces the length of it and added a half-door practice to greatly facilitate the loading of the vehicle.

As a culmination of this prototype is its means of propulsion. Added to virtually all brands concerned about the environment, Toyota A-BAT has a hybrid system with 4-cylinder engine under the Hybrid Synergy Drive technology.

Toyota is considering a small van which will be located below the Tacoma pickup. Depending on the reaction of the people, the Concept Toyota A-BAT, which was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show, could serve as a model for a new compact pickup truck.

"I think we all are trying to make products that consumers need not know that yet," said Don Esmond, vice president of Toyota.

The Toyota hybrid concept, which offers improved fuel economy and lower emissions, has a look that recalls a little old Chevrolet "The Way" of the 1970s.

The Toyota A-BAT is built on a chassis as a single car to improve handling and management. It also has wireless connection, a portable battery in the center console and a solar panel on top of the panel instruments that captures sunlight and converts it into energy to charge the navigation system.

The Toyota A-BAT Concept is a prototype Toyota presented at the 2008 Detroit International Salon. Is a prototype of a compact SUV pickup with a design, which I think is incredible, I love the lines of the chassis, the rear space, with an incredible amount of positions and a huge space.

The interior space combines perfectly yellow, with details of carbon fiber. the control panel seems a little ridiculous, but good, admittedly, is a concept that will never come into production as it is, but you tend to many of the elements for future models.
